Here are some other interesting cultivars of the graceful Hakonechloa sp. (Hakone Grass) to consider:
All Gold Japanese Forest Grass. Luminous, metallic gold foliage, tiny green flowers hide among the leaves, slow growing, needs afternoon shade but morning sun brings out the best colour.
Golden Variegated Hakonechloa. Low mound of arching stems with cascading layers of narrow leaves striped bright yellow and green, slow growing.
macra ‘Beni Kaze’
Beni Kaze Hakone Grass. Noted for its green foliage that takes on red tints in the late fall, likes shaded areas with moist soil.
Naomi Hakone Grass. Creamy yellow and green variegated leaves become flushed with reddish-purple tones during cool fall weather.
