Where Creativity Meets Inspiration
Here are some other cultivars of the stately Tilia sp. (Linden/Basswood) to consider:
americana ’American Sentry’
American Sentry Basswood. Narrower selection with yellow fall colour.
americana ’Continental Appeal’
Continental Appeal Basswood. Pyramidal shaped tree with broad, dark green leaves that are pale green underneath. Fragrant white flowers in late June. Green and yellow fall color.
Redmond Linden. A dense pyramidal form that is both hardy and fast growing.
Corinthian Corzam Linden. Evenly spaced limbs around a central leader give it a formal shape. Excellent for street planting.
Glenleven Linden. The growth of this species is somewhat faster than 'Littleleaf', and is noted for its straight stem.
Greenspire Linden. As the name suggests, it has a very narrow dense head. The leaves are small and heart-shaped.
cordata ’Summer Sprite’
Summer Sprite Linden. Smaller growing Linden. Good for under overhead wires.
mongolica ’Harvest Gold’
Harvest Gold Linden. Lovely exfoliating bark, golden buds.
tomentosa ’Sterling Silver’
Sterling Silver Linden. Impressive, sculptured crown. Lustrous dark green leaves with silvery undersides.
